The Winkleigh War Memorial Recreation Field was established soon after the Second World War as a private Charitable Trust (1023464), whose purpose was, and still is, to provide facilities for the recreation and education of residents of the Parish of Winkleigh.
Its running costs are not met in any way by the community at large or indeed by any local authority. The substantial costs, in particular for the Children’s Play Area are met from the efforts of the Committee of Management, usually by special fund-raising events.
Thanks to the efforts of a few, there is a Play Area of which the Parish can be rightly proud, but it should be borne in mind that it costs a great deal to keep it that way, not only in monetary terms, but also in volunteer effort.

The Management Committee comprises:-
Chairman – Mike Wilson Secretary – Tom Radcliffe
Treasurer – Scott Lambton
Additional Committee members are drawn from representatives of the various user clubs.
