Sadly, nothing is known of this man whose name appears on our Roll of Honour. His name does not appear in the Winkleigh census either in 1901 or 1911, so if he lived in the parish he would have come to live in Winkleigh just before the war. No service record survives in the so-called ‘burnt documents’ that survived the blitz, and there is no medal card in the records. This probably means that A. Everest did not leave the country on active service. Any help from a surviving descendent would be invaluable for our project research.
