Parking in Winkleigh Village Square.
Proceed out of the Village Square, past the Post Office, Doyles Restaurant and the Methodist Chapel to Exeter Road. Turn right and then left down Townsend Hill (signed Broadwoodkelly). Approx. 3/4 of the way down the hill look out for the footpath sign on your right by a metal gate.

Go through the gate and proceed diagonally left across the field to the wooden bridge. Go over the bridge and continue diagonally left again to the gate in corner of the next field. Go through the gate and follow the track, keeping the trees on the left as you go up the hill to the stile in the hedge at the top. Go over the double stile and onto the road.

Go through the gate opposite. Continue, keeping the hedge on your right. As the line of the hedge turns away, continue straight ahead to the gate in the hedgerow below. Go through the gate and turn left down the green lane to the next gate and onto the road.

At the road turn right. Continue walking for about a 1/4 of a mile passing the sign for Barntown Farm on your right, until you reach a footpath sign in the hedge on your left. Go over the stile and metal hurdle into the field. Keeping the hedge on your left, walk down to the bridge at the bottom. Cross the bridge and continue uphill towards the church keeping the hedge to your right.

Go through the metal gate to the right of the cottage and down the short track past Wheel Barton on your left. Take the right fork to the road and then bear right to the next junction.

At this junction, bear right passing in front of Pippen’s Cottage. Continue until you reach the next junction where Middlecott is signed. Follow this road up to the crossroads and turn right following the sign to Barntown. Pass Barntown Farm, and continue until you reach the footpath sign in the left-hand hedge. This leads back up the green lane. Retrace your steps to Winkleigh.
