BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT DUST
DUST (Devon Under Serious Threat) is a protest group, whose aim is to stop WINBEG.
Its founder members originally spent over six months researching a whole range of subjects associated with WINBEG, ultimately reaching the conclusion that the proposed development would:
· fail to work
· waste government (our) money
· result in a negative impact on the economy of Devon
· and cause irreparable harm to the ecology and cultural heritage of the county.
As a result of the research DUST was formed to enable these concerns to reach a wider audience.

As a general principal DUST fully support the intention to develop renewable energy production systems, but question current government approaches to the issue. DUST believes that WINBEG cannot be considered green for a number of reasons, not least for its dependence on fossil fuels for the production and transport of all fuels. It can also never be green if it never works. DUST, and a growing number of other organisations, does not believe WINBEG will work.

Before DUST was formed, a number of the founding members looked very carefully at the material released by PPL and all related issues. At the outset, every effort was made to be impartial in this approach, with one of the researchers initially expressing public support for the scheme.

Despite its work, DUST cannot claim to be anything other than a disparate group brought together by a common concern. It does however, include members with experience covering a wide range of fields, some directly related to issues raised by the proposed application. Expert sources have been sought for opinions in all possible areas. Government and PPL have been repeatedly approached for information
